Excitement Builds for Milwaukee Debate

The excitement is building in downtown Milwaukee for the Republican Debate. Long lines of people are waiting for their chance to get in the theatre. There are several security checkpoints to get through for spectators, volunteers, and the media.

Earlier Tuesday hundreds of volunteers waited outside to receive their assignments. They tell us it was a long process of emailing and background checks to help with the event.

Despite their volunteer status, many told us that they also chose to help out to really get a clear view on who they think should be running the country, and they're hoping for a better debate this time around, “I'm really hoping for some good substance and to learn more about the candidates and I think Fox is going to do a great job with the debate and I'm looking forward to that,” said Lynn Salonen of Cedarburg.

If you are heading downtown Tuesday night perhaps for the Bucks game, or for the debate, be aware there are several road closures. You can't drive on Kilbourn Avenue and State Street between 4th Street and 6th St.

Also, sidewalks around the Milwaukee Theatre and UWM Panther Arena will have limited access to pedestrians.
