Emails Show Green Bay's City Clerk Worried about Establishing Voting Site at UW-Green Bay

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Green Bay mayor's office says the city clerk wasn't trying to curtail Democratic votes when she refused to set up an early voting site on a college campus.

Emails show City Clerk Kris Teske was worried about establishing a site at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay because students tend to lean Democratic and state law prohibits establishing early voting sites that help one political party.

Mayor Jim Schmitt's chief-of-staff said Tuesday that Teske was just trying to follow the law.
