Elm Grove police officer injured in house fire

ELM GROVE -- An Elm Grove police officer is out of the hospital after rushing into a burning home Tuesday night.

A fire broke out at a home in the 1800 block of Brojan Drive just before 9:30 p.m.

Unsure if one of the two residents had made it out safely, Officer Preston Nobile rushed inside to search for an adult who had not yet been accounted for.

Nobile was taken to Froedtert Hospital, where he was treated for smoke inhalation.

The adult made it out of the house without assistance, according to a press release from the Elm Grove Police Department.

More than a dozen area fire departments responded to the blaze, which may have started in the first floor den.

Damage is estimated at $200,000.
