Elizabethkingia Found in Another Wisconsin County
GREEN BAY (WFRV) The Wisconsin Department of Health Services said that there now is a report of Elizabethkingia in Winnebago County.
The department is currently investigating an outbreak of bloodstream infections caused by Elizabethkingia and added Winnebago County to its website Wednesday.
As of March 23, a total of 59 cases have been confirmed. Fifty-two cases are confirmed, three are under investigation and four are possible cases.
All of the affected counties in Wisconsin include Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Fond du Lac, Jefferson, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Sauk, Sheboygan, Washington, Waukesha and Winnebago.
Health Services says that the majority of patients acquiring this infection are over the age of 65, and all patients have a history of at least one underlying serious illness.
