MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — In less than 24 hours, Americans will decide who they want as the next president of the United States. In Wisconsin, polls close Tuesday night at 8 p.m. and results will start rolling in shortly after.

How many people will be tuning in to watch the election results?

"Aw man, I just wanna say I feel on edge about it all," said Brandon Wilder, a first-time voter. "But who’s not gonna be watching the election?”

The answer is a little bit more complicated.

“Probably doing something with my kids that doesn’t involve looking at what the results are and checking it on my phone," said Justin Vanspeybroeck, a voter.  “Nerve-wracking, anxious, ready for it to be over.”

The most common answer we heard from people in Milwaukee was anxiety. People say they’re just anxious about what the results may be and they’re taking steps, starting today, to deal with that stress.

"I just want to take my mind off it. By the time I get back from my movie, there will be some clear signs, and I can tune in," one voter told CBS 58. "We do have a fair and safe election system. So no one should have any grievance about that other than the fact that they’re listening to misinformation.”

Others say they’re tuning in, but they’re worried about the following day.

"I’m concerned about protests, people contesting the results and how it could further tear apart our country," said voter Betsy Ruth.

No matter who the nation elects, voters say they want the transition of power to be peaceful.

"However it shakes out, we just need to unite moving forward and take care of your neighbors. We’re all in it together," said Vanspeybroeck.
