“El Sid” Reads to Kids in Honor of Black History Month

Bucks’ “El Sid” found new life in coaching both on the court and in the classroom.

The former assistant bucks coach and player Sidney Moncrief spent ten seasons as a player with the Bucks and is a two time defensive player of the year in the NBA.

Now he is reading to kids at Browning Elementary School. The event is one of several sponsored by the bucks to help celebrate Black History Month.

“I just love coaching, sharing principles with people. It's great. Doesn't matter their age. The fact that they know you or not know you. Notice if I say Michael Jordan they get excited. Golden state they get excited. So, I’m okay for a minute," says Sidney Moncrief.

Alderman Cavelier Johnson helped arrange the reading Monday as part of his Books in the Babershop program, a way to engage the entire community in sharing a book with a kid whenever you get the chance.
