MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As families settle into 2025, some are looking for ways to reinforce healthy habits in daily routines. Sarah Rushford from Ebenezer Child Care Centers joined us on Thursday, Jan. 30 to offer some best practices.
She said that healthy eating can start with keeping fruits and vegetables easily accessible. Involving children in food preparation may increase their willingness to try new foods, including making simple recipes, can make snacks more engaging.
Handwashing can also be turned into an educational activity. Showing kids the "pepper germ" experiment, help children understand the importance of washing for a full 20 seconds, according to Rushford.
Reducing screen time is another focus, with a focus on leaning into reading, outdoor play and winter sports as alternatives.
