A 60-year-old man was struck and killed as he was crossing W Hopkins Street near W Chambers Street around 8:35 Wednesday night.
According to the Milwaukee Police, the man disregarded a traffic signal, walked into traffic and was struck by a west bound van.
The man died at the scene.
According to MPD, the 41-year-old driver of the van left the scene because he feared for his safety.
He turned himself in a short time later at the MPD District Five office.
After toxicology tests are completed, the incident will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
