Update: Foul play suspected after driver suffering gunshot crashes in Fond du Lac

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Fond du Lac police say a driver who crashed into a light pole and suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, died from his injuries. Authorities suspect foul play is involved in the incident. 

Monday, Feb. 8, police released new details into the investigation. They identified the victim as 39-year-old David Posey of Fond du Lac. An autopsy has been scheduled. 

According to police, investigators worked throughout the weekend and two people -- a 30-year-old man and 29-year-old woman -- who are also from Fond du Lac, into custody. Police say the man is being held on a probation hold and the woman on obstruction charges. 

The investigation remains ongoing. Police do not believe a threat to the public exists.

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A driver who police say crashed into a light pole and several parking meters in Fond du lac, had been suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Fond du Lac police say officers were called to the area of South Marr and Sheboygan Streets around 2 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5. 

Upon arrival, police found the vehicle with substantial damage to it. The driver, a 39-year-old old Fond du Lac man, was the lone occupant and was found unresponsive but breathing.

He was transported to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac for treatment. There, it was discovered the victim had a gunshot wound to the leg. He was then taken by helicopter to Theda Care Regional Medical Center in Appleton. 

Investigators are looking for anyone who may have information on this incident.
