Dr. Jill Biden, the former Second Lady of the United States, will visit Milwaukee on Friday, May 12, to keynote the Milwaukee Area Technical College Spring Commencement. She will also celebrate free community college programs like the MATC Promise during a visit to Milwaukee’s Lynde and Harry Bradley Technology and Trade High School.
Biden will tour Bradley Tech at 12:30 PM. MATC President Dr. Vicki J. Martin will join Dr. Biden along with Dr. Martha Kanter, the Executive Director of the College Promise Campaign and former U.S. Under Secretary of Education. They will meet with leaders and students participating in the MATC Promise, and highlight the crucial education pathway from Bradley Tech to MATC.
Their visit will precede MATC’s Spring Commencement, which will be held at 6 PM, May 12, at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. Dr. Biden will be the keynote speaker and Dr. Kanter will be an honored guest at the Commencement. Approximately 1,400 students will graduate from MATC’s associate degree, technical diploma, apprentice, and adult high school programs.
MATC Promise launched in fall 2016. This program covers tuition and fees for qualified graduates to attend MATC once they have exhausted other sources of federal and state aid.
