GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Dozens of motorcycle riders joined Wednesday's Veterans Charity Ride, one of many hosted at House of Harley-Davidson every year.

"This is a great opportunity for everybody to come out, celebrate veterans, the men and women that have served their country," said Mark McClain, director of business development at House of Harley-Davidson.

Bikers peeled down West Layton Avenue Wednesday morning, with a law enforcement escort and bagpipe sendoff.

The charity ride brings a sense of community and pride for participating veterans.

"It just feels like a lot of family. Everybody's together, you get the rumble from the bikes, and everybody going under the flag feels really good," said Air Force vet, Bob Sommer.

All proceeds from the ride go to the Fisher House foundation, which provides temporary housing near VA hospitals.

"Whether it's veterans or their families that are receiving services from a VA, they are able to stay at the fisher house, have that feeling of home," said Katie Mevis with SAP, the ride's sponsor.

Charity rides continue through July 15.

Thursday is the Law Enforcement Charity Ride, Friday is the Firefighter Charity Ride and Saturday is the Women's Charity Ride, raising money for the Susan G. Komen foundation.

"All motorcycles are welcome, men and women riders. We want everybody out here," McClain said.

The daily rides for charity are a special part of Harley-Davidson's anniversary celebrations across Wisconsin.

"Once all the tents go up, and the vendors start moving in, and the food starts getting made, and the people are here from all the charities, it all comes together. This is what it's all about," McClain said.

There will be vendors and live music at House of Harley-Davidson through the rest of the week.
