MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- More than 1,000 people gathered at the Milwaukee County Zoo for the 23rd Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk on Sunday.
This year's event had a safari theme.
"When this started it was all about being aware of Down Syndrome, making sure that we are promoting being inclusive and things like that," said Marita Stannis, Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin. "Even with the rain, you can look around and see that everybody is out here and it's awesome, so it's been a really great year even though it's a little bit damp."
The event raised more than $160,000 for the Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin.
