Domes Host Second Buy Local Fair

More than 50 local vendors, members of Local First Milwaukee, will sell their wares at the Buy Local Gift Fair at The Domes November 29 from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. The Domes, Milwaukee’s Living Landmark, is located at 524 S. Layton Blvd.

“For every $1 you spend at a locally owned business, more than $0.68 remains in Milwaukee, compared to the $0.43 that stays here from national chains,” said Kelly Andrew of Local First Milwaukee. “Locally owned businesses maintain Milwaukee's style. Living locally isn't just about where you spend your money. It’s about getting to know others in your community and helping to make Milwaukee a better place to live!”

In its second year at The Domes, the holiday-shopping event with its wide array of merchants is expanding to fill the lobby, Show Dome, and recently completed annex. From bath and beauty products to lessons in horsemanship, offerings run the gamut.

Food and beverage gift items include sweet and savory treats, creations of chocolatiers and gourmet bakers, and coaster tins, where each coaster is a coupon to a unique Milwaukee restaurant or bar. Artisan soft drinks and teas along with coffees and craft beers will also be sold as gift items.

Hand-crafted jewelry, ceramics, leather, and work presented by local artists’ collectives will give shoppers the opportunity to purchase from and support the area’s creative community.

A full-service bookseller, specialty toy store, retreat center, and unique community organizations and businesses round out the event.

Entrance to the fair is included with regular Domes admission. Admission for adults age 18 and over is $7; Milwaukee County Seniors with ID, persons with disabilities, students of any age with ID, and youth age 6-17 are $5. Children 5 and under are admitted for free. Parking is free.
