Discussion held on the future of the BMO Harris Bradley Center

MILWAUKEE- The Milwaukee Press Club focused its Behind the Headlines event on the discussion of a new arena for Downtown Milwaukee.

BMOHBC Board Chairman Marc Marotta, Milwaukee Ald. Michael Murphy and Pabst Theater Foundation Executive Director Gary Witt all attended and leanded their view point on the topic of the Bradley Center.

Much of the forum focused on viable options for paying for a new arena to replace the BMOHBC.

Alderman Michael Murphy said the most fair use of tax payer dollars was to have a regional sales tax.

However, even with new owners coming in, surrounding counties like Racine, Ozaukee and Wauskesha still don't want any part of that.

Part of the discussion also included where to put a new building, and whether to tear down the BMOHBC and potentially the US Cellular Arena.

Alderman Murphy explained that one of the problems with tearing down the BMOHBC and the US Cellular Arena  is that the city can't afford to tear down the thousands of blighted homes in the city, so paying to tear down an arena is tough to justify to the public.
