DHS: Man being held in Dodge County Jail after threatening to kill President Trump

DHS

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Wednesday federal authorities arrested a man for threatening to shoot President Donald Trump, and that suspect is being held in a southeastern Wisconsin jail.

Noem said an Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) field intelligence officer received a letter on May 21 from Ramon Morales-Reyes, 54, who was in the country illegally.

According to a release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), ICE agents arrested Morales-Reyes the next day.

DHS says Morales-Reyes is currently being held at the Dodge County Jail in Juneau. The release did not specify where Morales-Reyes was when agents arrested him. DHS says Morales-Reyes will remain in Dodge County "pending his removal proceedings."

The DHS website posted an image of what it claims is the handwritten letter Morales-Reyes sent.

"We are tired of this president messing with us Mexicans - we have done more for this country than you people," the letter reads. "I will self deport myself back to Mexico but not before I use my 30 yard 6 to shoot your precious president in his head"

DHS officials say this is a copy of a handwritten letter an ICE official received from Ramon Morales-Reyes last week. DHS

The DHS statement said Morales is a native of Mexico who entered the U.S. illegally "at least nine times between 1998-2025" with a record of arrests including felony hit-and-run and disorderly conduct with a domestic abuse modifier.

"Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars," Noem said, according to the statement. "All politicians and members of the media should take notice of these repeated attempts on President Trump's life and tone down their rhetoric."

CBS 58 has reached out to Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt for comment.
