Deputy Chief Daniel Lipski retires from the Milwaukee Fire Department after 24 years of service

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One of the Milwaukee Fire Department's top officers said goodbye Wednesday, March 31.

"If you do right by the person, if you do right by the public and do right by your members, you can walk back away from your career, look back over your shoulder and say 'damn it, I'm pretty damn proud of what I did here,'" said Deputy Chief Daniel Lipski.

Deputy Chief Daniel Lipski is retiring after 24 years of service.

He got a rousing sendoff at the downtown fire station.

In a way, he's leaving the family business. He's a fourth generation firefighter, and leading the cheers Wednesday was his younger brother, Acting Fire Chief Aaron Lipski.
