Delafield Fire Department looking to replace old, unsafe station

DELAFIELD- The Town of Delafield fire station is 50 years old and the department said it needs to be replaced.

Fire officials there explained that it is outdated, unsafe, and unsanitary.

For example, medical supplies are stored in a room joined by their unisex bathroom.

The decontamination shower for bio-hazards is used for storage instead.

Because of cramped spaced, Carbon Monoxide levels peak at a dangerous level of 475. Typically a fire fighter wheres a breathing apparatus for a 100 level.

They also said the lack of space also affects their training and their for could affect how well services are performed.

On Tuesday, the Delafield tax payers will vote for a new fire station.

This is the third time in four years the town has put this to a vote.

This new plan also incorporates a new town hall in the building, along with a new location.

This will cost, on the high end, $3.95 million, which comes to about $100 a year for a $500,000 home, or about $.20 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.
