Update: Man shoots woman in Racine, turns gun on himself

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities released new details into a death investigation in Racine. 

Police say an investigation revealed a 49-year-old man shot a 52-year-old woman before shooting and killing himself. 

Officials identified the man as Donta Cook. 

The female victim remains in stable condition.

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) --  Racine police responded to an apartment near 8th and College Avenue Friday, Jan. 15, following reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a woman suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound and a man deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. 

The woman was transported to an area hospital where she remains in serious condition. 

Investigators ask any witnesses or citizens with information to come forward and contact the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at 262-635-7756.
