WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha Fire Department has confirmed a fatal fire took place early Friday, Jan. 24 at a mobile home near the corner of Elder and Grandview.
Officials from WFD tell CBS 58 that one person was inside the home when responders arrived, and while that person was removed, they did not survive.
One pet was rescued safely and has been turned over to the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha.
They also say that the fire is currently under investigation.
CBS 58 crews spoke with neighbors off camera, who said they saw fire and smelled smoke, and that it's scary something happened so close to home.
