Dead puppy found inside suitcase in Green Bay ditch; police seek leads

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police are investigating after a puppy was found dead inside a suitcase in a ditch in Green Bay. 

Police say a City Department of Public Works employee found the suitcase on Emmet Street on Monday, Dec. 16. 

Green Bay Animal Protection was notified and took custody of the dog. 

Police say the dog is estimated to be 4-6 month old, black and white Pitbull terrier-type dog. A forensic necropsy is being conducted.

Green Bay police are looking for any information in regard to the dog or the discarded suitcase. 

The Green Bay Police Department is urging people to surrender unwanted pets to your local animal shelter or rescue. There are also proper ways to dispose of deceased animals other than discarding.
