Dassey Attorney Files Motion to Have Him Freed

WFRV -- Brendan Dassey wants out of prison while the state appeals a federal judge's ruling to overturn his conviction in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach.

His attorney filed a motion in federal court Wednesday to have Dassey freed during the appeal process.

She argued that the state's chances to win the appeal are slim and Dassey should be free now. The filing also laid out a post-release plan for Dassey that included housing and family support during his reintroduction into society.

No word on when the court will rule on Wednesday's motion.
