DA finds 'no basis' for criminal liability in in-custody death of Brieon Green

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The DA's office has found "no basis" for criminal liability in the 2022 death of Brieon Green on the part of any person, including any employee of the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say Green took his own life in June while in custody at the Milwaukee County Jail.

"Any loss of life by one's own hand or by accident is tragic," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers continue for Mr. Green's loved ones."

The sheriff's office has opened an internal investigation to determine whether any MCSO policies or procedures were violated and to see if any additional steps can be taken in the future.
