Cudahy police: Missing 6-year-old girl found safe

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Cudahy police say 6-year-old Madelyn Chitwood has been found safe. 

The child was initially reported missing around 9 a.m. Friday after her mother was alerted by another child in the home that Madelyn was not in her room. 

Cudahy police coordinated a search along with the State of Wisconsin DCI, the CBI and local law enforcement agencies. 

Madelyn was found safe at another residence in the neighborhood around 12:39 p.m. 

The matter remains under investigation.

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Cudahy police are searching for a missing 6-year-old child. Officials say Madelyn Chitwood was last seen by her family at bedtime Thursday evening, June 8. 

According to police, Madelyn's mother was alerted by her other daughter that Madelyn was not in her room or anywhere in the residence.

It is unknown what time she left or where she would have gone.

Officials describe Madelyn -- who also goes by the nickname Maddie -- as a white female, standing 4 feet tall and weighing 60 lbs. She has blue eyes and short blonde hair and last seen wearing only her underwear. 

Cudahy residents around East Whittaker Avenue are asked to check their Ring doorbell footage.
