Crowley announces plan to keep kids and seniors safe online, hold Big Tech accountable
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Candidate for governor David Crowley announced a new artificial intelligence policy platform Tuesday, Oct. 13, aimed at supporting Wisconsin kids and seniors.
At a press conference in Milwaukee, Crowley emphasized the importance of putting mandatory guardrails on Big Tech companies.
"At the end of the day, we know that there has been scammers that drain bank accounts, we know that there have been social media posts that have actually contributed to the ending of many of our young people's lives, and this is now placing the burden on Big Tech companies instead of placing the burden on our families," Crowley said.
His new plan would focus in part on required safety settings on platforms, banning addictive features, and stopping surveillance advertising.
