MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Have you ever walked into Walgreens and noticed they have things chained down or locked up? Everything from makeup to shampoo.
Well this week's Crime Stoppers story is a perfect example of why.
Take a look at these surveillance photos. They're from the Walgreens on 52nd and Capitol.
Detectives say around 11:30 in the morning on June 19, the man came in and opened locked cabinets of cleaning supplies and tried to steal them.
They say he stuffed the cleaning supplies into a cooler he found in the store and attempted to casually walk out. The clerk caught him, and when they approached him about it, they say he flashed a gun.
He got away with about $500 worth of soap and other cleaning items.
"The introduction of a firearm makes this -- whether it's used or not -- bumps the severity level up to felony level. Makes this more problematic than shoplifting," said MPD's Tony Castro.
If you know anything about this crime of any other crime, call Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS. You can also use the P3 tips app.
Your call is always anonymous, and if your tip leads to an arrest, you get a cash reward.
