MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police are asking for the public to come forward with information after a road rage incident led to gunfire on a neighborhood street, and two innocent people were caught in the middle.
Plenty of people were driving near 26th and W. Auer Avenue when two drivers got into an argument on the street. One of the men went into his car, got a gun and started shooting. Police say the bullets missed the target and hit two innocent bystanders standing on the sidewalk. One of them had a graze wound to the head.
"The two victims just happened to walk upon this, we don't know what precipitated the argument," said MPD Captain Craig Sarnow. "What we do know is that whatever it was, lead to this violent act where two people, two Milwaukee men who had nothing to do with it, were struck by gunfire. And this happened at 1:45 in the afternoon on a weekday where there are kids out. We've seen this play out far too often in our community where innocent victims get hit by gunfire."
There are no leads in the case.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Milwaukee Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS.
Your tip could get you up to a $1,000 reward.
