MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – An annual report released Tuesday morning ranks Ozaukee County as the healthiest county in the state.
The ranking reflects health outcomes meaning length of life and quality of life. Experts looked at more than 30 factors to create the list. The factors include poverty, education, transportation and jobs.
This year, the study also looked at how housing impacts health and the opportunity to be healthy.
Waukesha County ranked 4th, Kenosha County ranked 60th, Racine County ranked 65th and Milwaukee County ranked 71st out of 72 counties.
“To see such a large gap between basically neighboring counties which are part of the same economy, if you will, seeing those gaps indicates that people really don’t have the same opportunities for health in close proximity to each other and that’s something to warrant looking into,” said Justin Rivas with the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.
The full list can be found on the County Health Rankings website.
