MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Wednesday, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley addressed high school seniors participating in Marquette's College Bound Scholars Summer Academy.
The pre-college course is designed for first-generation students who want to leave a lasting impact on the community.
Crowley touched on his personal journey and emphasized the importance of mentor-based programs such as these.
"If there was one thing I would like these young people to take with them, it's that they are not alone, that they have mentors, they have each other. That we need to be locking arms with each other to get over the issues we are seeing," Crowley said.
Marquette's College Bound Scholars program has been prepping students for college success since 1973.
