Construction underway on Lake Geneva Ice Castles

LAKE GENEVA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Construction is underway on the Lake Geneva Ice Castles.

Crews began growing and harvesting icicles earlier this week in order to create the acre-sized attraction at Geneva National Resort & Club.

In the next few weeks, crews will grow up to 10,000 icicles each day. Each icicle is hand-placed and then sprayed with water. This process is repeated until the castles reach around 30 feet tall.

The attraction is expected to open in late December or early January. This is the second year the ice castles have been built in Lake Geneva.

More information can be found on the Ice Castles website.
