Congresswoman Gwen Moore arrested during minimum wage protest

MILWAUKEE -- U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore was arrested by West Milwaukee police during a minimum wage protest on Miller Park Way. 

Moore has since been released and said she received a ticket worth $691.

Of the group, 25 other people were arrested by police officers while protesting in front of the Miller Park Way McDonald's.

They were also released with citations.

All ramps leading to Miller Park Way were shut down thanks to the minimum wage strike.

Fast food workers across the nation planned to strike all day September 4, and following a Labor Day speech from President Obama about their ongoing campaign for more pay, organizers plan to take things to a new level.

The strike was happening in 150 cities September 4 at other national restaurants, including Burger King and Wendy's.

Organizers and participants say they hope these strikes will lead to pay of $15 an hour and the right to form a union. 

McDonald's released a statement that said in part: \"We respect everyone's right to peacefully protest. The topic of minimum wage goes well beyond McDonald's. It affects our country's entire workforce.\"
