MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Nearly 50 Miracle League athletes took to the baseball field at Concordia University Wisconsin today, on July 23, as part of their annual All-Star games.
Parents, family and friends got a chance to see their athletes with special needs take the field.
Organizers say it's a chance for athletes of all ages to have fun and show off what they've learned throughout the season.
They say it's all to get more people involved in the teamwork and comradery of sports.
"Seeing the smile on a kid like Josh's face when he just hit off a pitch instead of a tee for the first time in his life, or it's the joy when Henry arrives at the field on a Tuesday night for his game and he sees all his favorite volunteers and runs up and gives them great big hugs," said Leila Wright of the YMCA Metropolitan of Milwaukee.
Organizers say it's all thanks to volunteers that this all could happen, so parents can sit back and enjoy watching the games.
