Common Council confirms Griselda Aldrete as head of Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The next leader of Milwaukee's Fire and Police Commission is ready to be sworn in.

Griselda Aldrete's appointment was confirmed Tuesday by the full Common Council. Her background includes work as an attorney and as leader of local non-profit groups. Now she will lead the panel that oversees the work of Milwaukee's police and fire departments.

"My doors are open," Aldrete said. "What has been said about me is true, I will continue to be available for people, transparent and really try to be the bridge-builder that our city needs."

Aldrete succeeds La Keisha Butler, who resigned in March after less than a year on the job.
