Comet Café and Fuel Café closing their doors indefinitely

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two Milwaukee favorites,Comet Café and Fuel Café Center Street, announced Friday, July 10, they will close their doors indefinitely.

"This decision was difficult, but necessary, as both restaurants have struggled to remain financially viable during the covid-19 health crisis," an email on behalf of Leslie Montemurro reads. "We are grateful to our customers for their loyalty and support over the years and for our staff who has always worked hard to make these restaurants a welcome gathering place in our communities. Staff has been informed of the closures. We hope to resume operating at both locations at some time in the future when it is appropriate to do so.”

An Instagram post says: "Along with many other restaurants, Comet Cafe has struggled to overcome the challenges of the covid-19 health crisis and sadly, we have decided to close the restaurant indefinitely. We thank our staff for helping to make Comet a welcome place for everyone and are grateful to have been a part of this community for so long. We have enjoyed serving you and hope to see you in the future. In the meantime, take care and please continue supporting your local restaurants!
