College or Daycare? Which Costs More?

A new report says it now costs more to put a child in daycare full time than it does to pay for college.

The report come from "New America."

It says the average costs of full time daycare for kids up to age four is just under $9,600 a year.

By comparison, the average cost of in state college tuition is about $9.4000 a year.

If parents make the national median household income of $53,000 a year, daycare for one child takes up %18 of that income.

The younger the child the high the cost.

Infant care is about 12% more expensive than toddler care.
