Cold Water Challenge...Plunging into Trouble

(Milwaukee)--Some daredevils are part of a frigid fad these days.

One piece of video on YouTube shows one local man who's taking the cold weather challenge. It's a way to raise money for a good cause.
But now the U.S. Coast Guard and even the DNR are chiming in saying what these folks are doing, no matter the intentions, is more like bad behavior.

The lake temperature near Milwaukee's shoreline is around 45 degrees. At this reading, hypothermia, or a overall drop in body temperature, can happen in minutes. If you do decide to take the risky cold water challenge, the experts say to have someone watching you on land while you're in the water. Also, it's recommended to never dive into the unknown. Instead, gradually submerge yourself so it's less of a shock to your body.
