"Coalition for Justice" asks community to pressure prosecutor

MILWAUKEE - Supporters of a man who was shot and killed by a Milwaukee Police officer are calling for community members to pressure prosecutors to charge the officer with murder. Members of the Coalition for Justice organization are asking citizens to call and email Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chrisom and ask that the police officer who shot Dontre Hamilton be arrested and charged with murder.

Dontre Hamilton, 31, was shot 14 times during a confrontation with an officer in April at Red Arrow Park. He died at the scene. So far there has been no decision on charges for the officer. The FBI is conducting its own review of the case.

The social media campaign targeting DA John Chisholm is hoping to reach people across the country. The group asks that calls and emails be made Monday, October 6th.
