Cleaning service business owner swamped with clients due to flooding in Milwaukee
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Following a week of flooding for many homeowners in Southeast Wisconsin, a Milwaukee cleaning service business owner says he had double the number of clients compared to a typical week.
Quincy Ferguson is the founder of Ferguson Cleaning Service Milwaukee/Chicago. Ferguson said this past week, he was booked and busy draining basements for clients. He said many clients had ruined carpets and furniture due to flooding.
“It’s been overwhelming, trying to accommodate everybody at one time. I kind of got to pace it out,” Ferguson said. “It’s scary, because a lot of the time the basements are dark, there’s trash everywhere. It’s scary, but you just kind of got to put on your boots and get it done.”
Ferguson said he sees many of his clients overwhelmed with the amount of work that is needed after a significant storm. He’s telling his clients to complete the work in smaller pieces to avoid stress.
“Do a little bit at a time,” Ferguson said. “You can’t really do anything about it and being sad about it won’t help.”
In a week where people needed his service, Ferguson said he felt recognized for his work he posted online.
“I feel seen, because cleaners are underrated until you really need them,” Ferguson said.
