Classes resume at Whitewater High School after suspicious message reported

WHITEWATER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Whitewater Police Department responded to a concern at the Whitewater High School regarding a suspicious message.

The school was placed on lockdown and then evacuated during the search. No suspicious devices were found.

Students not picked up by parents were returned to the school and classes resumed as normal. All after-school activities will continue as scheduled.

The Whitewater Police Department would like to thank all Whitewater Unified School District faculty, staff, students and parents for following all protocols to ensure safety for everyone involved. A special thank you also goes out to UW-Whitewater Police Services, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and UW-Madison Police Department for their assistance.
