City of Milwaukee rolls out restaurant carryout zones

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The City of Milwaukee is initiating a program to make it safe and convenient for customers to pick up orders from restaurants as a result of the current "no dine-in" policy to combat the spread of COVID-19.

To assist customers without a loading zone near their business, the city has implemented a free, temporary program to provide restaurant carryout zones.

"As restaurants face uncertain times, this program is a way we can support those small businesses trying to better accommodate their customers," said Mayor Tom Barrett.

The Department of Public Works will provide signage and the equivalent of two parking spots near their location.

Restaurants can apply for the program at milwaukee.gov/dpw and signage will be installed by DPW within 48 to 72 hours of the request.
