City asks state to look into merging Bradley Center & Wisconsin Center boards

The Milwaukee Common Council is asking state lawmakers to look into merging the boards that govern the BMO Harris Bradley Center and the Wisconsin Center District. Alderman Terry Witkowski believes the competing interests of the boards are hindering the development of Milwaukee's downtown.

Alderman Witkowski, a former Wisconsin Center District board member, says, \"With discussions taking place about potentially building a replacement for the Bradley Center and Phase Three of the convention center and an entertainment district, one would hope that the two boards would be talking.\"

The Bradley Center board was created by the state legislature in 1988 and the Wisconsin Center District board was created in 1994. Witkowski's resolution asking state lawmakers to look into merging the two boards passed unanimously on December 16.
