City and county leaders visit Milwaukee institutions

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Back to Milwaukee, where city and county leaders visited several local institutions today, on June 24.

Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson, Mayor Cavalier Johnson and State Senator La Tonya Johnson were a part of the tour -- starting at a Milwaukee staple -- Miss Kate's Diner.

The goal of the tour was to show leaders across levels of government, how small businesses, institutions and services can use support.

"They are looking at pursuing a dedicated revenue, a stream of revenue like a sales tax that will allow us to provide funding for those non-mandated services like our parks, like our transit system because without that dedicated funding source we may see these things no more," said Nicholson.

Officials also stopped by Washington Park to learn about the Urban Ecology Center, and they also hit the public library.
