Citizen locates stolen car and suspects in armed robbery

A resident contacted Milwaukee Police Department and helped officers locate a stolen car and items taken in an armed robbery.
District Six officers responded to a parking lot in the 200 block of W. Holt Avenue around 7:30 a.m. on August 25 for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The caller told officers that the occupants were suspicious and appeared as if they were preparing to commit a crime. The caller noted the license plate number before the suspects were seen covering the plate.
A check of the license plate number by officers revealed the car was stolen on August 14 in the 5400 block of N. 39th Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they stopped the suspects and found several stolen items inside the car, including a driver’s license, purse, and cell phone. The officers’ investigation revealed those items were stolen the night before during an armed robbery in a neighboring jurisdiction. The two suspects, a 28-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman, were taken into custody. The woman is a convicted felon with a criminal record dating back to 2001.
