Church Services Cancelled in Dane County after Suspicious Incident

According to a press release sent out on Saturday, the Sun Prairie Police Department received information on an event that occurred at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in the City of Sun Prairie on Thursday.

A man entered the church around 3:30 PM on Thursday April 6, inquiring about church services and practices. The line of questioning was very unusual to include inquiries on practices of turning people away from services. The subject was described as a white man in his late 20s to early 30s with brown hair, a scruffy goatee, wearing a green baseball style hat and a dark green jacket. The man strongly smelled like cigarette smoke.

The man left in a silver sedan with rust around the wheel wells and a missing hubcap on the front driver side tire. The vehicle is possibly a Buick.

The Sun Prairie Police Department is working with area places of worship to alert them of this activity. Sun Prairie Officers will be providing extra patrol around places of worship over the weekend. As a precautionary measure, all services for Bethlehem Lutheran Church have been cancelled on Sunday April 9.

The Sun Prairie Police Department asks that all citizens remain alert of their surroundings.
