Children's Wisconsin announces opening of Skywalk Building
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Children’s Wisconsin has announced the opening of its newest addition, the Skywalk Building in Milwaukee. The two-story facility, located on West Connell Court adjacent to the Craig Yabuki Tower, aims to enhance accessibility to emergency care.
Established with the collaboration of Ladish Co. Foundation and the Jendusa family, the building houses an upgraded Emergency Department and Level I Trauma Center, alongside the Skywalk retail pharmacy.
Central to the new building are its 50 treatment rooms, which encompass spaces tailored for mental and behavioral health needs. Advanced imaging technologies, such as CT, x-ray and ultrasound, are available in the building.
A dedicated Transport Team, specializing in transporting pediatric patients, is also stationed at the Skywalk Building.
In a Thursday, Oct. 12 press release, Amy Drendel, DO, interim section chief of pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Wisconsin, commented, “The new Skywalk Building supports Children’s Wisconsin’s mission to make a positive and lasting impact on the health and well-being of our patients and their families. With this new, advanced EDTC facility, we can better provide the safest, highest-quality and most equitable care and services.”
