Milwaukee Admirals off to hot start
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Tuesday, we spoke with Milwaukee Police Chief Jeffrey Norman about the recent street takeovers in Milwaukee.
MPD reported more than a dozen takeover calls from different locations over the weekend.
The chief said incidents like these, with crowds on streets, reckless driving, fireworks and more, are a nationwide problem and the department doesn't want officers responding alone. He also talked about partnerships.
"This is where we really have to lean in on collaboration," Chief Norman said. "New strategies of dealing with people who want to get engaged in illegal activity is collaboration, whether it's law enforcement, whether it's our governmental partners, whether it's community, that's the force multiplier."
We asked Chief Norman if he has enough staff to respond to street takeovers, and he told us, "We are always making sure that we will respond to these calls."
