CHICAGO, Ill. (CBS 58) -- While Milwaukee waits for final word about whether it will host the 2024 Republican National Convention, Chicago has convention hopes as well.
Our neighbor to the south is hoping to host the Democratic convention in 2024.
The competition will be tough. The DNC is considering Chicago, New York, Atlanta and Houston.
On Tuesday, officials from the Democrats' site selection committee were in Chicago to visit possible venues and to hear the list of reasons why the convention should come to Chicago.
"These reasons include our city's experience hosting major, large-scale events every year. Not episodically, but every year, all year round," said Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
Chicago last hosted the Democratic convention in 1996.
Of course, the Democrats were supposed to hold their 2020 convention in Milwaukee, but it turned into a mostly-virtual event thanks to the pandemic.
