WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Chef Paz celebrated 10 years of serving the people of West Allis Peruvian cuisine on Wednesday.
Maritza Paz is the chef and owner of the local establishment. She grew up in Peru and started cooking at a young age.
Peruvian food is unique because of its influence from different countries and cultures.
West Allis Mayor Dan Devine says people who haven't been to Chef Paz are missing out.
"When I talk to people, a lot of people say I've never been there because it's -- they don't know what Peruvian food is," said Mayor Devine. "And they're missing out. It is an amazing cuisine and has influences from around the world."
Peru's Independence Day is Thursday and the anniversary of the country becoming a republic is Friday.
Chef Paz is planning to celebrate by serving special dishes those days.
