MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Marking 60 years of advancing adult education, that's the milestone being celebrated by Literacy Services of Wisconsin (LSW).
Literacy Service of Wisconsin officials say they've worked to eliminate barriers to education and empower adult learners.
In addition to the anniversary celebration, there was also a "Literacy Rocks" fundraiser, recognizing people who are making an impact.
"Literacy is something we all should care about," said Holly McCoy, executive director of Literacy Services. "It's something that impacts K-12 education, employment, so many things; we're really here to make sure every person who wants it has access to literacy services."
Since opening its doors in 1965, LSW has served more than 30,000 adults.
