Cedar Crest Ice Cream launches frozen custard line

CEDARBRUG, Wis. (CBS 58) – Cedar Crest Ice Cream has launched a new line of frozen custard. The pint containers hit store freezers on May 1 in six flavors: Butter Pecan, Caramel Cone, Mint Mackinac Island Fudge, #LUV Peanut Butter, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Vanilla. The flavors were chosen because they are some of the most popular ice cream flavors.

Cedar Crest saw an opening in the ice cream market since frozen custard is not regularly available at local grocery stores.

Custard contains more cream, along with egg yolk and butterfat, giving it a smoother texture and richer taste compared to ice cream.

Cedar Crest already makes ice cream, sherbet, and gelato products. The local family-owned business started in 1976 in Cedarburg and currently produces the treats in Manitowoc.
