Catholic community marks 41st anniversary of Roe v. Wade decision

MILWAUKEE -- Catholic pro-life advocates will mark the 41st anniversary of the controversial Roe v. Wade ruling this week, a Supreme Court decision that ruled state laws prohibiting abortion unconstitutional.


The Archdiocese of Mlwaukee will host a simultaneuous Holy Hours for Life prayer service Tuesday at 7 p.m. at various churches throught the area. 


Other events planned to reflect on the ruling include a pro-life prayer walk Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. The walk begins at Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 812 N. Jackson Street in MIlwaukee, and ends at Affiliated Medical Services, 1428 N. Farwell Ave.


A High School Night for Life rally at the Archbishop Cousins Catholic Center in Milwaukee begins at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a 5 p.m. Mass with Archbishop Jerome Listecki. The event will also serve as a send-off for those traveling to Washington, D.C., for the annual March for Life.


Archbishop Jerome Listecki will lead the Archdiocesan Respect Life Mass Wednesday in observance of the National Day of Penance and Prayer at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Kenosha. About 500 people are expected to attend.
